Valentine’s Day Activities for Upper Elementary Students

January 18, 2021 by StudentSavvy Leave a Comment

Struggling to find Valentine’s Day activities for your Upper Elementary students? All elementary ages can celebrate this holiday with engaging resources and tools. February is also the perfect month to promote kindness and friendship with read-aloud books and discussions.

Here are some of my favorite activities for this age group!

Valentine’s Day STEM Challenges

In the “Cupid’s Wings” challenge, students must create wings that are able to extend and close properly, creating a flapping motion. The wings must contain a pulling mechanism that allows the wings to close. When the mechanism is released, the wings must open.

In the “Pinwheel of Hearts” challenge, students must create a Valentine’s Day Pinwheel. The group that can create a paper pinwheel that spins the fastest wins the challenge! At least 8 hearts need to be incorporated in the design.

In this challenge, the Valentine’s Day mailbox must be large and sturdy enough to hold all of the group’s valentines. It must be able to open and close easily with a flap and a tab. There must be a movable flag to show it contains cards. The mailbox cannot be larger than 12 inches long and 10 inches wide.

February Digital Activities

Valentine’s Day | February Digital Activities contains 9 fun, interactive activities. Students simply type in answers and add photos in Google Slides. Some of the activities include creating your own love bug, deciphering hidden messages with conversation heats, and decorating your own Valentine’s Day mailbox! Sample answers are also included.
