If you are looking for tips on how to use Math Digital interactive notebooks in the upper elementary classroom, then you have come to the right place! Digital interactive notebooks are a great way to engage your students during distance learning. It’s also a way for students keep their notes organized and looking polished, as well as having a reference tool for the rest of the year.
In this blogpost, I’ll be referencing the Math Digital Interactive Notebook Templates The templates can be used over and over for multiple math units, or as a review / overview of multiple math skills / topics. Teachers can easily delete movable math pieces and manipulatives as well as the text boxes and frames.
For example, If you would like a notebook just on “Multiplying Fractions” you can create a copy of the template and edit the information to fit your classroom needs! You could do this with EVERY math unit for the entire year! That is what I love most about Google Slides templates – you can adjust them to fit your needs and reuse them for so many different topics!
Here are some elements that you will want in your Math Digital Interactive Notebook
1. Math Manipulatives / Drag & Drop Movable Objects in Google Slides:
Digital math manipulatives are so fun for students to utilize in their notebooks! They can be used in a variety of ways. You can copy and paste them to create math examples from their curriculum or have students use them to answer a math question.
2. Sample Math Problems & Examples
The Math Digital Interactive Notebook Templates  offers both a single-sided template as well as a two-sided template. In the two-sided template, you can display the math manipulatives and information on one side, while providing sample math problems or examples on the right side. Students can take the information they have learned on the left and apply it to the right side of their notebook.
3. Overviews of Each Math Topic
As I mentioned earlier, all the manipulatives, frames, and text are movable, so you can create space to add overviews for every math topic, such as adding fractions, solving word problems, measurement, etc. You can add or delete slides as well! If you would like to make interactive notebooks for all your math units, you can do that too!
4. Math Vocabulary
At the beginning of the interactive notebook template. there is an overview page for math vocabulary. This is a great page for students to go back and reference when they need to be reminded of a math term they are unclear on.

Student Teaching & the Digital Classroom
I Would like to create an interactive digital Notebook for using with my students in phonics and ASL. My goal in phonics is for the children to physically put the /EE/ at the top of the vowel chart and to go around to the /oo/ vowel sound. Another one is to list the words /read/ as words with the/e/ sound. Currently, I am using Goodnotes.
