This post contains fun and interactive timeline and mapping activities for upper elementary or middle school students who are learning about Ancient Civilizations and Ancient History!
These teaching resources are great for homeschool, distance learning, and/or in the classroom! Most of the activities in this post contain both DIGITAL (Google Slides ~ assigned in Google classroom) and print versions.
Interactive Google Slides & PowerPoint Timelines
The interactive google slides are quite the virtual experience! The Ancient civilization PowerPoints and/or Google Slides can be used as a powerful classroom presentation or students can click their way through it on individual computers. The timelines allow students to click on the dates and it reveals the important information they are learning.
You may also enjoy displaying Ancient Civilization timelines in your room as educational and beautiful classroom decor! This bundled resource contains 130 posters from The Stone Age, Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient Israel, Ancient India, Ancient China, Ancient Greece, and Ancient Rome. Both horizontal and Vertical versions are included in the file.
Virtual Interactive Notebook Mapping
With this activity, students find a map online of the specific Ancient Civilization (in the photo example, Ancient Greece is used). They use the different colored pins to mark important locations on the map. You can find these interactive maps in the Ancient Civilizations Interactive Notebooks here (both print and digital versions included!)
The interactive events timeline are also included in the Interactive Notebooks. Students can drag and drop events into the correct order! This can be done in Google Slides.
