Ocean Animal Activities – Teacher Sock Sunday

Hi teacher friends,
Happy #TeacherSockSunday! 

    So I have been dying to wear these jellyfish socks and now I have the perfect teaching resource to go with them! Ocean Animals is such a fun unit to explore towards the end of the school year. In this resource, students learn fun facts about seahorses, jellyfish, whales, sea turtles, dolphins, clams, crabs, and sharks! 

Great Activities for 1st-4rd Grade!

These ocean activities work well with any ocean unit. Also great for substitute teachers to use and for Fun Fridays! 

This creative writing resource also has an activity where students can create their very own sea creature!

Table of Contents:
Turtle Page – Students discuss what they know about turtles, what they would like to learn, and their first observations.


Seahorse Page – Students discuss what they know about seahorses, what they would like to learn, and their first observations.

Jellyfish Page – Students discuss what they know about jellyfish, what they would like to learn, and their first observations.

Whale Page – Students discuss what they know about whales, what they would like to learn, and their first observations.

Research and Learn Part 1 – students research & learn new fun facts and information about seahorses, jellyfish, whales, and turtles. 

Clam Page – Students discuss what they know about clams, what they would like to learn, and their first observations.

Dolphin Page – Students discuss what they know about dolphins, what they would like to learn, and their first observations.

Crab Page – Students discuss what they know about sharks, what they would like to learn, and their first observations.

Shark Page – Students discuss what they know about seals, what they would like to learn, and their first observations.

Research and Learn Part 2 – students research & learn new fun facts and information about clams, dolphins, crabs, and seals. 

Test Your Knowledge Part 1 – students write fun facts about seahorses, jellyfish, whales, and turtles. 

Test Your Knowledge Part 2 – students write fun facts about clams, dolphins, crabs, and sharks.

Brainstorm: Students take what they learned from the previous pages and begin brainstorming their own sea animal creation. They draw and write about where it lives, fun facts, survival needs, and the friends and predators their animal has. 

Create Page: Students a “Wikipedia” style article about their ocean animal species. 

Animal Story: Students will write an exciting story about their ocean animal and its adventures in the sea.

W. 1.2, W.2.5, W.2.2, W.3.2 Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.
